WINNABOW, NC (WWAY) — Multiple firefighters responded to a house fire in Brunswick County early Friday morning.
The fire occurred at 110 Caicos Court in the Mallory Creek subdivision in Winnabow and was reported around 2:30 AM.
According to a 911 dispatcher, a female caller reported her house and backyard were on fire.
Chief John Grimes with the Leland Fire Department told WWAY that multiple fire departments from Leland, Winnabow, New Hanover County and Northwest dispatched fire personnel to the scene.
Firefighters from the Wilmington Fire Department and Acme-Delco-Riegelwood Fire Rescue remained on standby.
A family, including a pregnant woman, and a dog were inside the home at the time. There were no reports of injuries.
Around 7:30 a.m., neighbors reported seeing more smoke coming from the roof and fire crews were dispatched to return to the scene.
The house appears to be a total loss. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
